Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you treat?

We provide psychiatric care for:
• Adolescents (ages 12 and up)
• Adults
• Geriatric patients
Care is tailored to each stage of life, taking into account developmental, medical, and psychological factors.

Do you provide therapy or counseling?

As Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, our primary focus is medication management and diagnostic evaluation.
We may incorporate brief, supportive therapy techniques during visits when appropriate, including:
• Mindfulness-based strategies
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles
• Behavioral Activation (BA)
• Select Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills
For patients who would benefit from ongoing, structured psychotherapy, we may recommend working with a licensed therapist in addition to medication management.

Do you prescribe medications?

Yes. We provide evidence-based psychiatric medication management tailored to your individual needs.

Will I receive medication at my first visit?

Not always.
The initial visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where we take time to fully understand your history, symptoms, and goals before making treatment decisions.
• Medication may or may not be prescribed during the first visit
• Some medications (especially controlled substances) require additional evaluation and clinical justification
• Safety and appropriateness always come first

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

If clinically appropriate, certain controlled medications may be prescribed.
However:
• They are not guaranteed at the first visit
• Additional evaluation, documentation, and follow-up are required
• Prescribing follows strict clinical and legal guidelines

How often are follow-up appointments?

Follow-up frequency depends on your treatment plan, but typically:
• Initial follow-ups may be every 2–4 weeks
• Once stable, visits may be spaced out
For certain medications, regular follow-up appointments are required to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Do you offer in-person or virtual visits?

All appointments are conducted via secure telehealth.
